Bad Clown Films LLC is a low budget independent motion picture film production company specializing in the creation and production of horror and dark comedy operating under the direction of Michael Malott.
Michael Malott is a decades long music industry veteran. His work in the entertainment field includes working with Grammy Award winning artists and over 30 years working and touring with some of the biggest names in music. He holds a degree in law and in 2004 created the Instruments for the Youth Children's Charity which provides free musical instruments to needy children, arranges celebrity visits to children's hospitals and other charitable work. The charity has enjoyed the support of over 100 top name entertainers including such names as KISS, Keith Richards, Billy Joel, Jimmy Buffett, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Clive Barker, Christina Aguilera, Bush, No Doubt and on. The charity and its work have received praise worldwide including the Prime Ministers of Canada and Trinidad and even Nelson Mandela. His work over the years has included involvement in gold and platinum award credits, and Grammy and an MTV Award credits. He was the creator and producer of the Peter Tosh Tribute Project featuring Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia, Slash, Sean Paul and others.
In the mid 90's, he was the creator and screenwriter of the Corporate Vacation film project teaming up with Bon Jovi's Tico Torres, and tying in such popular artists including Frank Bello from Anthrax, Junior Marvin from the Wailers, Emo Philips, Judy Tenuta, Arlo Guthrie and others.
In 1995, Malott was involved in the legalization of medical marijuana while living in San Francisco working for cannabis advocate Dennis Peron at the San Francisco Cannabis Buyers Club and assisting Dennis with the drafting of California Prop. 215, this countries very first medical marijuana laws. Malott has written several medical marijuana patient guides and medical marijuana law books that are published worldwide.
His 2005 benefit album for his Instruments for the Youth Children's Charity featured members of the Police, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Starship, Testament, Steve Vai and others all performing a jazz composition. The track, AFRICA by Pat Martino received a Grammy nomination for "Best Jazz Instrumental".
Malott has also authored a 13 volume jazz discography library which is published worldwide as well as other book titles. Highly knowledgeable in the field of jazz (especially ECM releases) he has amassed a comprehensive jazz collection of several thousand jazz titles.
Malott left actively working in the music industry in 2005 to be a full time single parent to his autistic son, Zachary. His son is a well known child celebrity working to raise money for St Jude Children's Hospital through a children's book series called, The Let's Explore Children's Book Series. Zachary also produces segments for his Kidsworld TV series. His child's efforts have been commended by two U.S. Presidents and he even did a homework project with President Obama who declared his son "An inspiration for special needs children and families everywhere".
As a film director he credits inspiration from such films as Rob Zombie's 31, the 1981 release, Southern Comfort and in particular the 1980's film release, Cruising, a lesser known dark film starring Al Pacino.
